This blog is written by a non-Trump evangelical Christian. In the past it was sufficient to identify myself as an evangelical, but the term has become so politicized and identified with Donald Trump that it is necessary to qualify it. About 80% of American evangelicals voted for Mr. Trump but I am not one of them. I am concerned that Trump’s leadership as president has compromised truth and justice in our country and threatens democracy. These concerns are not unique to non-Trump evangelical Christians, which is why the blog name starts with “American Christians.” The blog is written from a Christian perspective but its concerns may be shared by mainline Protestants, Roman Catholics, or Orthodox Christians as well.
Although the title is “American Christians,” the content will be of interest to non-American Christians as well, since what is happening in America impacts the world in many ways. The inclusion of “American” is in the title because of the blog concerns issues related to American politics.
